# Renew an Indian passport in Canada

For an adult renewing an Indian passport that's expiring or used up, while living in Canada. You fill the form online with Passport Seva, then hand it in to BLS International \(or post it\). Allow at least eight weeks.

## Steps

1. **Fill in the re-issue form for [Whose passport] on Passport Seva \(Global\)** (45 min)
   Choose re-issue, not a fresh passport. Upload the digital photo and signature, and the supporting documents if it lets you: it speeds things up. Note the file number it gives you.

2. **Find the BLS centre that serves your address** (10 min)
   Canada is split between the Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver consulates, and each has its own BLS centres, fee table and checklist. Use the page for yours. Not every centre offers Tatkal or 60-page passports.

3. **Print the form, the checklist and Annexure E** (20 min)
   Annexure E is the specimen declaration, on plain paper. Sign in blue or black ballpoint, inside the box under the photo.
4. **Gather the documents** (30 min)
   Current passport \(original and a copy\), proof of your Canadian address, proof of status in Canada \(PR card, work or study permit\) and two recent photos. In person, bring originals for checking; by post, send self-attested copies. Put them in the checklist's order.
5. **Hand it in at [BLS centre] BLS, or post it** (1 hr)
   In person: debit card or exact cash. By post: a demand draft or money order to “BLS International Services Canada Inc.”, no cheques or cash, plus a prepaid self-addressed return envelope \(not to a PO box\). From July 1, 2026 the Toronto fee table lists CAD 177.70 for a 36-page re-issue; check your centre's table before paying.
6. **Track it until it arrives** (5 min)
   Normal processing is at least eight weeks from when it reaches the consulate; Tatkal is about a week. Posting adds three or four working days.
